Japanese ASCII Art on a bento box

 

When I saw this bento box, I just had to buy it and it only costs USD $24.50. As a lover of Japanese culture and Japanese emoticons, I just couldn’t resist how cute Japanese ASCII can look on a bento box. If you are thinking of buying this for your kid, I recommend that you buy a few.

The lid is white and the box is lime green in color. The lid is designed with the ASCII ‘kaomoji’ emoticon called ‘kita’. The box has two layers which is perfect for separating the various yummy food that you put into it. Writing this blog post actually made my mouth water as I thought about all the yummy food to put into it lol.

As like what the website says, the top layer box can carry up to 260ml of food while the bottom holds up to 220ml. The measurements are 14 x 8.5 x 9.5 cm.

The box is 100% made in Japan and the website states that it is microwave safe and dishwasher safe. However the thought and smell of microwaving plastics make me a bit nauseous. If you dish wash it, make sure you detach each of the pieces and don’t wash in ‘hot’ as you risk the shapes changing and you’ll never be able to attach the pieces together again. It made one of my box layers go wonky.
